After we were sure of coming to America, I began dreaming about my life here and how awesome it would be. I saw myself with lots of money, cars, houses, and girls just like the rapper or movie stars we get to see on the weekends on my neighbors TV. I thought when we get here my rich   uncle will buy us a house and my mom will get a job and me my brother will go to nice private high school. One can only dream, however when reality hits you in the face then you learn a dream does not become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work. When it comes to my family reality drowned us, my mom could not find a job for over a year, we had to live in a small one bedroom apartment with my aunt where me and my brother slept on the floor in order to go school in the morning. Life was so suffocating that my mom almost decided to go back to Ethiopia and just give up. Fast track to 2014, my senior year of high school. I have wait for this day since I came here. Even though my dreams of becoming a famous soccer player or a well know heart surgeon has not yet came true I believe the expectations of America I had when I was ten years old motivates me to get up and push myself to the extreme limit till I achieve my dream and become successful. He argues that prisons are the only charities he cares to. Through Scrooges implicit defense of the poor laws, Dickens dismisses the excuses of the indifferent upper class as irresponsible, selfish and cruel. Dickens has used both simple and sophisticated language to present and develop Scrooges character. He uses anti-Christian terms whenever he has Scrooge speaking. For instance, he spits out an angry word Bah Humbug, in response to his nephews sincere merry Christmas. Also, when he enters his apartment after seeing Marleys ghost on the door knocker, he says, a disgusted Pooh-pooh! Even before the arrival of Marleys ghost, the atmosphere is fairly tense. Dickens describes Scrooge as a thoroughly unhappy person. Scrooge took his melancholy dinner in his usual melancholy tavern. This means that Scrooge is already in a low spirit. Scrooge then passes the yard, which the writer describes as, so dark, that even Scrooge who knew its every stone was afraid to grope with his hands, he then approaches the door of his apartment; there he suddenly comes face to face with Marley. At first, he could not believe his eyes and thinks it is some kind of hallucination. Can it really be Marley? But he is not dead as a door nail. When he enters his house, he checks the back of the door knocker, but could not find anything, apart from the bolts that held the door knocker in place. He shakes his head and runs up the stairs. He double locks his door to his room and is about to take the gruel for his cold. When, at that moment, he senses a chill blowing through the rooms and the papers start to fly around. Venison, raccoon, chicken, goat, and beef were all part of a persons diet as well as seafood and flying game. Some popular berries eaten by colonists were huckleberries, blackberries, blueberries, also called sky berries, and wild strawberries.
